Assessingstudents’ papers is an important part in English teaching. When the students’assignments are commented, more attention should be paid to diversity andartistry. Felicitous comments in students’ papers can improve the effect oflarge class teaching, arouse students’ learning motivation, guide students’learning method, and promote the emotional communication between the teachersand the students. Thus, it will promote the implementation and development ofthe quality education. Therefore, teachers should explore and reform the typesof assignment comments actively, and the appropriate assignment comments canbring effective and positive function to English teaching. This paper focuseson the principles, types and functions of English assignment comments to air myopinion.

Withthe implementation and deepening of the curriculum reform and the issue of newcourse criteria, English curriculum poses higher demand for English teaching inprimary school and in middle school. It puts emphasis on overall developmentand innovation ability,and stresses that English teaching activity cannot be limited toimparting the knowledge, but focus on students’ growth as a whole, especiallyon students’ social growth (陈琳,王蔷,程晓堂, 2002). During the teachingprocess, teachers should embody learner-centered teaching theory, regard cultivatingstudents’ learning interest, attitudes and self-confidence as top priority, andregard learning strategies and forming healthy personality as essential components.So it is the key content for teachers to teach students to acquire the bestlearning strategy, form healthy personality and enforce the self-controlability in the learning process. http://www.paper51.com

However,because of the impact of population and inadequate teaching resource, largeclass teaching in middle school is extremely popular, especially after theimplementation of the compulsory education. During the limited 45 minutes’teaching in English classroom, teachers cannot evaluate all feedback from everystudent. Teachers are busy with preparing lessons, attending classes andarranging assignment every day, so they have not enough time and energy toguide every student alone. Such situation causes some difficulties and problemsin English teaching. For the above-mentioned reasons, many effective teachingapproaches, including assignment comments, have been researched and employed inEnglish teaching. In this paper, I have made some attempts on how to design thetypes of comments in accordance with the demands of evaluation system ofcurriculum reform, and have tried to find the positive functions of comments toimprove the teaching quality. http://www.paper51.com
