Abstract This study was designed tosurvey the Englishlistening obstacles in Middle School. Listening is an essential component ofcommunication in human life. It’s also a basic skill in English learning. Butfor most middle school students of China, among listening, speaking,reading and writing skills, listening is the most difficult one. This paperbases on the former researchers achieved and focuses on the categoriesof the Englishlistening obstacles in middle school and some students’ opinionsabout their listening problems in Liu Jie Middle School. From the paper, the readers have ageneral idea about English listening obstacles and get some useful advices fromthe participants. It will be applied to the English teaching. Students, teachers,even the school managers will benefit from it.
