3.3 The Research instrument

The instruments used in the paper are twoquestionnaires (QuestionnaireⅠandQuestionnaireⅡ).In QuestionnaireⅠ,Vocabularylearning strategies are used by students. It will mainly focus on how studentslearning vocabulary, what are the methods students use when they learn Englishvocabulary. While in QuestionnaireⅡ,Vocabulary teaching strategies are used by teachers. It will focus on whatstrategies do teachers use in their vocabulary teaching and how do they teachvocabulary. Then all the 153 students come from 4 classes were asked to answer QuestionnaireⅠ.Andall the 11 English teachers were asked to answer QuestionnaireⅡ. http://www.paper51.com

3.4 Procedures

  It wasadministered during class time and the response rate was 100 percent. Thequestionnaire was finished in March 2, 2009. 164 copies were given to 153 studentsand 11 teachers, 160 copies were available. 149 copies were got back fromstudents, 11 copies were got back from English teachers. The researcher dividedthe subjects into two groups (high and low) according to average scores.
