文化差异与中学英语词汇教学

In addition, English is a livinglanguage. It is becoming less and less formal in the course of using. Although ‘Wrinkles’ are rich, they stillcarefully drive to ‘Porsche’, in order not to be ‘ripped off.’ Now a largenumber of people try to be green and they seldom ‘bin’ newspaper, but ‘recycle’them at any time. The meaning of the sentence is that many people pay moreattention to environment and throw rubbish randomly. Meanwhile, people closelynotice their food. They do not eat ‘junk food’, but look for ‘organic’ food.Some people would rather act as a ‘veggies’. With the appearance anddevelopment of the computer, People are gradually replacing postcards andletters with ‘e-mail’. Some abbreviations Such as ASAP (as soon as possible),BTW (by the way), DIY (do it yourself), IMHO (in my humble opinion) and PTO(Please turn over) arise too. Therefore, teachers should have clearunderstanding about these words in English teaching to make students understandthe change of these languages and help them form the cultural consciousness intheir study.

In a word, it is essential for teachers to focus on culturalknowledge in English vocabulary teaching; they should not stay on the facialform of the language symbol, but should introduce the deep meaning of thelanguage symbol to students.
