Nowadays, English is becoming more and more important in internationalcommunication due to globalization, and learningEnglish becomes more and more important. So,how to grasp English well and quickly becomes a very important topic. Atpresent, our country has paid more attention to English teaching. On one hand,we must acknowledge that English teaching has reached some certainachievements. On the other hand, teachers and students have spent so much time,energy and money in English, but the results are unsatisfactory andineffective. In China, for the situations of rural places, the same as city, teachersthink English teaching is very hard, and students believe that it is difficultto learn English. Most teachers take the belief that the English examinationsin high schools include listening, reading and writing. So they spend much timein teaching listening, reading and writing and ignore speaking. However, studentsare poor in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Why?  There are many reasons: First, teachingaim at different exams. Second, teaching equipments are limited. Third, the teaching materials have been changed greatly, but theteaching methods have not been successfully altered to the local teachingpractice. But this is mainly due to the inadequacy of the students'language input and output. English is a coursewith very strong practicality, while recitation is an important link instudents' English practice. Recitation is the best way of language input and output. So English teachingshould pay attention to students' recitation to help English learning.

However, throughoutthe history of English language education in China, teachers have tried avariety of strategies such as, grammar translationmethod, the direct method, the audio-lingual method, the total physicalresponse method and communicative method to ensure the learners to havea high proficiency of English. “With the new tide oflanguage learning, all kinds of methodologies have therefore caused theabandonment of the Chinese traditional learning strategy, recitation”(Li,1995:95). Recite: repeat aloud or declaim from memory before an audience ( Pearsall, 2003:1196). According to the definition of recite, recite canbe divided into reading aloud and memory. From this we can see reading aloudcan be very helpful in middle school’s English learning.
