浅析英语语用失误

语用失误问题可以被分为语言语用失误和社交语用失误。本文认为,由文化 差异造成的失误为社交语用失误,由语言本身的差异造成的失误为语言语用失误。本文先从理论上演绎语用失误在各领域的存在状况,然后经过实例,对其进行个例研究。以期减少或防范跨文化交际中的语用失误。

Influencedby Exam-oriented education, English teaching put more weight on the explainingof basic language knowledge points such as vocabulary, grammar, syntax, etc,upon which students focused largely in their learning process. Thinking thattheir mastering hundreds of thousands of vocabularies or being able to getperfect grades in exams mean mastering the language, even graduates with CET4 orCET6 certificate always feel embarrassed while commutating with foreignfriends. That is,what they have learned is just some correct forms, but not properEnglish, that is pragmatic failure. In the communication course,misunderstanding is not the sentences meaning but the speaking meaning. It isnotable that most of the misunderstanding is not due to any inability to hearpeople or to parse their sentences or to understand their words. A far moreimportant source of difficulty in communication is that we so often fail tounderstand a speaker’s intention. (Miller, 1974) According to this, the preciseunderstanding of speaker meaning is the vital part of a successfulcommunication, or else the pragmatic failure or communication failure willhappen. The purpose of this paper is to analyze pragmatic failure, which wouldlead to failure of communication so that we could overcome it as we have a goodknowledge of about it.
