1.Introduction 内容来自www.paper51.com For most English learners, it takes a great deal ofefforts to develop oral communication skills. In traditional English class, teachers emphasize that students should write English more than speak English. The result is that they become “dumb men” in English class. Nowadays, we havemore chances to use English to communicate with others. Meanwhile, more andmore teachers are realizing that oral English is a most important strategyamong English teaching strategies. ‘‘English Course Standard for High School, which shows that in the stage of high school, students have to attain thedemands or abilities of listening, speaking, reading in a certain degree, forexample, students can use proper intonation and rhythm, they should also haveabilities of giving a speech, expressing themselves and judging something rightor wrong in English.’’(钟启泉,吕良环 2003) paper51.com I’dlike to take Lan Cang No.1 Middle School as an example to find out and explorethe main difficulties during their teaching and learning, and try to providesome strategies that are able to solve the problems in oral English teachingand learning. According to my inquiries and analyses in Lan Cang No.1 MiddleSchool, I found out the main reasons that affect the spoken English teachingand learning in this school are as follows: 1. For 'most of English teachers, they pay more attention to language knowledge and grammar focus teaching, butignore spoken English teaching and organize a few practices in their teachingprogress, and this case leads to students lack a certain language context tolearning. 2. Because lack of trainings or practices, English teachers’ level ofspoken English is low and this is an important element that affects student’sspoken English learning. 3. Some elements of psychology influence student’slearning. Some of these elements are from teacher’s unreasonable or incorrectcriticisms. Another reason is from students, their oral English learning alsoaffects by dialect, especially the students from the border area. 4. In anordinary middle school, there are too many students in the classroom. This alsoinfluences teachers’ teaching and students’ learning of spoken English. paper51.com |
